DHEA 5 mg
60 capsules
ClubNatural
DHEA is converted in the
body to androgens (such as testosterone) and estrogens, thus DHEA influences
practically every organ and tissue in the body, including the brain. Unless
someone has a proven adrenal gland deficiency, DHEA dosages higher than 5 mg are
discouraged due to side effects. We do not sell DHEA in high dosages such as 10,
25, and 50 mg because we feel they are unsafe and could lead to serious side
effects. See below for a list of potential DHEA side effects on high doses.

What is DHEA?
Short for dehydroepiandrosterone, DHEA is the most abundant hormone made by the
adrenal glands, which are located just above the kidneys. After DHEA is made by
these glands it goes into the bloodstream and from then on, DHEA travels all
over the body and goes into our cells, where it is converted into male hormones
(known as androgens) or female hormones (known as estrogens). Small amounts of
DHEA are also made in the brain by neurons (brain cells). Hence DHEA can be
called a neurosteroid.
DHEA side effects:
High doses of DHEA taken for prolonged periods can lead to a number of side
effects including acne, irritability, hair thinning, and heart rhythm
disturbances. At Physician Formulas we only sell 5 mg DHEA, not the higher
amounts since we believe high doses are dangerous. For a full discussion of DHEA
side effects written by Ray Sahelian, M.D., the author of Mind Boosters
and a bestselling DHEA book, see
